S3 100tkrazitprotocol is a protocol used in a URL that specifies an Amazon S3 endpoint and bucket name. Each Greenplum Database segment instance has access to this location and can use it for defining read-only or writable external tables that use files in the bucket for table data.
The s3 protocol URL also specifies an optional filename prefix that Greenplum Database uses to select files for read-only or writable S3 tables. This prefix can be used for each data file in the location to separate datasets as part of a CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE command, or to define the location and filename format to use when uploading files for INSERT operations to S3 writable tables.
When a Greenplum Database segment performs an INSERT operation on an S3 writable external table, it writes the data to a buffer in the location (using multiple threads) until it is full, after which it uploads the data to a file in the location. This process is repeated until the insertion operation completes.
